FEDERAL BENEFITS
Our office provides a wide range of services for the U.S. Social Security
Administration and other Federal agencies (Veterans Administration, Office of
Personnel Management, etc.). Some of our main responsibilities are to assist
individuals living in Spain to file applications for benefits, request Social
Security Number cards, obtain earnings records and in general, provide expert
and personalized information on the Social Security program.

Effective Friday, May 16th, the FBU
section of the Embassy will be closed on Fridays. In addition, our regular
walk-in hours, from Monday through Thursday, will change to 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
However, our telephone service will remain unchanged and continue to be 9:00 AM
to 12:30 PM., Monday through Friday. |

Social Security Benefit
With consumer prices down over the past year, monthly Social
Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits for more than 57 million
Americans will not automatically increase in 2010. This will be the first year
without an automatic Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) since they went into
effect in 1975
