Ambassador Solomont shares his
on-the-ground experience in Afghanistan with Spanish journalists
On August 31, Ambassador Solomont met with
Spanish journalists and opinion makers to discuss his recent trip to
Afghanistan, where he had a chance to meet with Spanish embassy officials,
aid workers, troops, and trainers. The Ambassador underscored that the
attacks of September 11th and March 11th were both planned in Afghanistan
and that only way to prevent the country from again becoming a nest of
extremism and a platform for terrorism that threatens our citizens is to
prepare the Afghan people to take responsibility for their own security and
their own future. He emphasized that progress is being made in Afghanistan
and that Spain is making a difference by providing security, development,
and training. Op-ed, August 29, 2010

Washington in a sincere effort to reach the goal of a two-state solution
that ends the conflict and ensures the rights and security of both Israelis
